Ok, so
it’s not officially fall yet, but it
sure does feel like it!! Fall is my absolute favorite season, and if I could
live it all year round I would be a VERY happy girl!! Usually here in the Midwest we don’t really
get that long of a fall season…it always seems like we go straight from summer
to winter, so the fact that we are having fall in early September makes me want
to whip out my fall decorations, make caramel apples and start carving
pumpkins!!
This pretty much says it all :) |
However,
I looked at the weather forecast for the rest of the week and tomorrow it’s
supposed to be back up to 90 degrees. I
think Mother Nature is on drugs.
So I
know today is Wednesday but I was so busy Monday and Tuesday writing a term
paper for my class that I didn’t get to post my weekend re-cap on Monday like I
wanted. So you get it on Wednesday.
Saturday
morning when Justin got off work he took me out to breakfast. We ate outside, which we surprisingly have never done
before, and it was absolutely beautiful.
I had the eggs Benedict which were divine.
After that we ran a few errands and then came
home. He had to work Saturday night so
he came home and slept and I curled up with the pups in the recliner with a
blanket and watched Hocus Pocus. Like
I’ve said before, Hocus Pocus is my all time favorite movie, so the whole time
watching it I was reminiscing on my childhood and came to the conclusion that my
crush on Thackery Binx never fully went away.
Saturday
night I went to my parents and we went to this local car show in town. My Dad has a 1987 Corvette so he put his car
in the show as well. You basically just
walk around looking at all the cars, and there are judges who vote on best in
show. They had fair-style food and a
local band there as well. It was cool
looking at all the older cars. My nephew
was in heaven. I had to get a picture of
him by the old mini cooper for Uncle Justin.
My husband LOVES mini coopers.
The one time he got to test drive one (and the only way he was able to
test drive one is because my Uncle worked at the car lot) he thought he was Mark Wahlberg in the movie The Italian Job. Somewhere in the middle
of our ride he forgot how to drive a stick and killed it twice.
He said it was his favorite because it was little like him :) |
Writing his name :) |
He refused to look at me or spit out the piece of candy in his mouth |
We stayed until about 9pm then went back to my Mom and Dad’s until about 10:30. I didn’t plan on staying that long, but we were having so much fun that I lost track of time ;) My parents are the best. Our family is totally loud, inappropriate, and funny. I love it.
Sunday
we just hung around the house all day and I made a huge pot of chili for
supper. I also slept with the windows
open all weekend long. Even though I woke up
shivering in the morning, it was well worth it ;)
Fall
is my favorite season for so many reasons: the leaves changing colors,
pumpkins, fall festivals, Halloween, apple cider, hoodies, bonfires, ghost
rallies and haunted houses, cookouts with friends around a campfire, The Covered
Bridge Festival (it’s a Midwest thing, check it out here), eating soups, chili, and
stews, Thanksgiving, pumpkin pie, the smell of fall scented candles, smores, and
last but certainly not least, it is when my hubby and I got hitched (October 22nd).
Our
favorite holiday is Halloween, and Justin especially loves decorating the house
all morbid and scary like, and dressing up as a killer clown to pass out
Halloween candy to the little kids. Go ahead
and send your kids over. I just can’t
promise that they won’t be traumatized! Ha
ha!
And
like the crazy dog-mom I am, here I am with my babies :)
What is
your favorite season(s) and why?
Until next time,
Xoxo, Katie
