Weekend Re-Cap with Justin's Surprise Party

Happy Monday everyone!!

I know I’ve been MIA all last week, but it’s because I have been so busy getting ready for Justin’s SURPRISE party!!  He turned the big 3-0 on Friday, and Saturday I threw a surprise party for him with all of our friends and family.  It was the best weekend we have had in a long time.

I was off on Friday (his actual birthday) so I took him out for lunch at The Olive Garden.  He had the chicken marsala and I had the soup and salad.

Then the waiter forced us to share this piece of pumpkin cheesecake.

We both LOVE pumpkin anything.  It was delicious.  Afterwards though we were both completely miserable because we were so stuffed.  After that we had a few errands to run, where I finally got my mums and pumpkins.

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE fall?! ;)
We ended up not eating dinner that night because we were STILL full from lunch.
Saturday morning we woke up early to get the rest of the house cleaned.  He knew my sister and her family were coming over, but he thought that was it.  I told him we had somewhere to be at 2:30, so he better be ready.  A few weeks before I had booked him an appointment and put a deposit down for him to get a tattoo.  He has been whining for months about how he wanted a tattoo but I told him we just didn't have the money.  I had secretly been saving up without him knowing.  He wanted a tattoo to honor our dogs, so he got a Boston Terrier with a top hat and suit on, and a banner underneath that says American Gentlemen (that’s what the Boston Terriers are known for being).

About 2:00 there was a knock on the door so I told Justin to go answer it.  It was our friends Cali and Ed, who drove from 4 hours away.  We were so happy to see them!  We all used to live in the same apartment complex and would go over to each other’s houses almost every night.  I really miss that!!  So it was good to catch up, and he was so happy to see them as well!  I of course knew they were coming, and they wanted to go with us to get his tattoo.  When we showed up at the tattoo parlor I wish I could have captured the look on his face.  It was pure happiness and amazement.  He couldn’t believe that I actually did that, and pulled it off without him knowing.  Little did he know the surprise wasn’t over  :)
Besties for life :)

The whole time he was getting his tattoo I was frantically texting my sister.  She went to the house at 3pm to get set up for the party and to show everyone where to park so he didn’t see their cars when we pulled in.  She was getting all the food set out and getting the yard set up. I love my sister.  She is truly a saint.

We got done at the tattoo shop around 5:00 and everyone was showing up at 5:30, so I had Ed drive really slow on the way home.  We even stopped at Walgreens to get some Nivea cream and some antibacterial soap to wash his tattoo just so we could kill some time.

When we got home everyone was standing outside in our front yard ready to surprise him!
Justin said it was definitely his best birthday to date.   He has been a little down recently due to some medical issues (nothing serious!) so I was glad this cheered him up and he was able to have fun.

Here are some more pictures from the PAR-TAY

Looks like he is really feeling it here :)

Sitting around the fire with friends and family.  Nothing better!

Ed (my 2nd husband) and me :)

My sister and I looking like lushes :)

All in all it was a great weekend!!  Tomorrow is October 1st, so I am stoked to come home after work and have Justin put up my decorations.

Last but not least, I have to leave you with some adorable pics of my babies :)

What can I say, everyone was wore out after the party!!  :)

FIVE on Friday

Today I am linking up with Darci to do FIVE on Friday.

ONE
My alarm was apparently never set last night, so I woke up at 8:22 this morning.  I have to be at work at 8:30.  It was dark out, so when I woke up I was thinking it was only 6:30 or so, but when I picked up my phone I almost shit myself started yelling profanities.  The dogs must have still thought it was early too, because usually they are waking me up around 7 to go outside, and they were both still snuggled under the covers.  I ended up clocking in at 8:52.  How I didn’t get a speeding ticket on my way to work I will never know.

TWO
I’m really glad I took my shower last night before bed, or I would have been even later to work.  I usually take my showers in the morning (it’s the only thing that wakes me up), but because my sister and nephew are coming over tonight I cleaned like a mad woman last night for an hour, so I was a sweaty mess.

This is me and Justin every time someone comes over unexpected...haha

THREE
I ended up turning the air on last night because it was a humid 92 degrees.  I can’t sleep if I’m hot.  Today it’s back down to 75.  I don’t know what to do at this point.  Like I said Wednesday, (link), Mother Nature is on crack.  Sunday is the first official day of fall, so I am fully expecting to never turn the air on again until next summer.  Hear that Mother Nature??!!  I always wait until the last possible moment to turn the heat on in the winter.  I’m talking middle of December last possible moment.  Yes, I freeze my husband out.  Everyone that comes to our house knows to wear layers!

FOUR
Next Friday my hubby turns 30.  He doesn’t seem too depressed about it.  He is just acting like it’s another day.  I asked him what he wanted to do and he said just hang out at home with me and the dogs.  He is such a simple man and that’s one of the things that I love about him.  Simple solutions make him happy.  He has next Wednesday through the following Monday off, which is what he is most excited about.  I’m off on Friday (his actual birthday) so I am thinking of something fun for us to do together.

FIVE
Since my sister and nephew are staying tonight it will be a tossup as to what movie we will watch.  It will either be Hocus Pocus, Home Alone, or Elf.  He will get to decide since he’s the 6 year old and he’s the boss.  I would be happy with any of them!

This weekend I plan on going to the grocery store (puke!) and finally organizing all of my closets and taking stuff to good will.  I hope you all have a nice relaxing weekend!

Happy Hump Day

Happy Fall Y’all!!!

Ok, so it’s not officially fall yet, but it sure does feel like it!!  Fall is my absolute favorite season, and if I could live it all year round I would be a VERY happy girl!!  Usually here in the Midwest we don’t really get that long of a fall season…it always seems like we go straight from summer to winter, so the fact that we are having fall in early September makes me want to whip out my fall decorations, make caramel apples and start carving pumpkins!!
This pretty much says it all :)

However, I looked at the weather forecast for the rest of the week and tomorrow it’s supposed to be back up to 90 degrees.  I think Mother Nature is on drugs.

So I know today is Wednesday but I was so busy Monday and Tuesday writing a term paper for my class that I didn’t get to post my weekend re-cap on Monday like I wanted.  So you get it on Wednesday.

Saturday morning when Justin got off work he took me out to breakfast.  We ate outside, which we surprisingly have never done before, and it was absolutely beautiful.  I had the eggs Benedict which were divine.

After that we ran a few errands and then came home.  He had to work Saturday night so he came home and slept and I curled up with the pups in the recliner with a blanket and watched Hocus Pocus.  Like I’ve said before, Hocus Pocus is my all time favorite movie, so the whole time watching it I was reminiscing on my childhood and came to the conclusion that my crush on Thackery Binx never fully went away.

Saturday night I went to my parents and we went to this local car show in town.  My Dad has a 1987 Corvette so he put his car in the show as well.  You basically just walk around looking at all the cars, and there are judges who vote on best in show.  They had fair-style food and a local band there as well.  It was cool looking at all the older cars.  My nephew was in heaven.  I had to get a picture of him by the old mini cooper for Uncle Justin.  My husband LOVES mini coopers.  The one time he got to test drive one (and the only way he was able to test drive one is because my Uncle worked at the car lot) he thought he was Mark Wahlberg in the movie The Italian Job.  Somewhere in the middle of our ride he forgot how to drive a stick and killed it twice.
He said it was his favorite because it was little like him :)

They also had a car that was painted all in chalk paint, so they were letting all the kids write on it.  It was pretty fun.

Writing his name :)
He refused to look at me or spit out the piece of candy in his mouth

We stayed until about 9pm then went back to my Mom and Dad’s until about 10:30.  I didn’t plan on staying that long, but we were having so much fun that I lost track of time ;)  My parents are the best.  Our family is totally loud, inappropriate, and funny.  I love it.

Sunday we just hung around the house all day and I made a huge pot of chili for supper.  I also slept with the windows open all weekend long.  Even though I woke up shivering in the morning, it was well worth it ;)

Fall is my favorite season for so many reasons: the leaves changing colors, pumpkins, fall festivals, Halloween, apple cider, hoodies, bonfires, ghost rallies and haunted houses, cookouts with friends around a campfire, The Covered Bridge Festival (it’s a Midwest thing, check it out here), eating soups, chili, and stews, Thanksgiving, pumpkin pie, the smell of fall scented candles, smores, and last but certainly not least, it is when my hubby and I got hitched (October 22nd).

Our favorite holiday is Halloween, and Justin especially loves decorating the house all morbid and scary like, and dressing up as a killer clown to pass out Halloween candy to the little kids.  Go ahead and send your kids over.  I just can’t promise that they won’t be traumatized!  Ha ha!

And like the crazy dog-mom I am, here I am with my babies :)

What is your favorite season(s) and why?

Until next time,
