Friday Fives

Friday Fives: Favorite Movies

I have seen many different bloggers do Friday Fives, where they list five of their favorite things.  It can be anything: food, movies, restaurants, etc.  So I decided to jump on board!!  I decided to do Favorite Movies.  This is an easy one for me because my husband and I are complete movie junkies.  Our combined collection is probably at least 800, which doesn't include all of the TV seasons we have.  Yeah I know, it’s REE-DIC.  Our media spare room is wall to wall DVD cases.

I love all types of movies, especially comedies, action, dramas, tear-jerkers, and chick-flicks.  And I am self-proclaimed an 80’s movie junkie.  Watching movies from the 80’s and early 90’s just takes me back to my childhood and puts me in the best mood when I watch them.

Hocus Pocus
This is my absolute favorite movie.  I usually start watching it in July, and I watch it every week (sometimes twice a week) until Halloween is over.  My favorite holiday is Halloween hands down, so I think that is the main reason I love this movie.  That and it totally takes me back to my childhood. "Max likes your yabbos...in fact, he loves them!"

Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead
I could watch this over and over.  I love all of the 80’s fashion, and it’s also another one that takes me back to my childhood. “The dishes are done, dude.”

Mrs. Doubtfire
I used to watch this all the time growing up.  Every time I see that it’s on TV I have to turn it on.  I’m a huge Robin Williams fan, so of course this one had to be on here!  “Oh God, it’s clotted!!  Oh God!!!  This hollandaise smells like burnt rubber.  Gosh it’s hot in here.  Aaaggh!!  Aaaggh!!  My first day as a woman and I’m already getting hot flashes.”

Jack
Yes, yes, I know, 2 Robin Williams films in a row.  If you haven’t seen this movie, you MUST!!  It also stars Diane Lane, Jennifer Lopez, Bill Cosby, Fran Drescher, and Brian Kerwin.  This movie makes me cry every damn time, but it’s a happy cry.  It’s a coming of age classic that tells the story of Jack, a boy who ages four times faster than normal and all of the struggles that come along from that.  "Hey Jack, ever get a boner?  You know, an erector?"  Jack: "No, but I'm hoping to get one for Christmas."

Angus
Another coming of age classic (in my opinion).  This is one of my husband’s favorite movies as well.  If you are a Dawson’s Creek fan, then you will be happy to know that Dawson (James Van Der Beek) is in this movie, although he plays the jock asshole.  It is such a great movie, and I love the song that they play at the prom.  My husband’s favorite line is: “You get a boner in your stomach?”

Stepbrothers

One of my favorite comedy movies.  I love every single movie that Will Ferrell is in, so it was hard for me to pick just one.  I cannot watch this movie without busting up, so if I'm in a bad mood and I watch this, it instantly turns my frown upside down!  "We have so much more room for activities!"

E.T.
I knew every word to this movie at 3 years old.  I kid you not.  My Grandpa used to babysit me and whenever I was acting up he would put this movie in and it shut me right up.  And I would cry every time ET got sick, even though I knew he would be ok in the end.  “Elliott, Elliott, Elliott.  ET, ET, ET.  Phone home.”  Love it!!  And my nephew loves it too!

Grease
Another one that I watched all the time growing up.  Know every single line, and every single musical number.  I wanted to be Rizzo if my high school ever did the musical.  But the school board turned us down because there was sex, cursing, and teen pregnancy involved. Doesn't that sound just like high school??  Haha.  "I don't look at it as dropping out!  I look at it as a very strategic career move."

Clueless
My sister and I watched this every single weekend growing up.  This is where my crush on Paul Rudd started.  This was before DVD players.  Our neighbor had it on VHS, so we would always go over and ask her to borrow it.  Thus began our favorite saying: “As if!!”

Ok, so I know that’s more than 5, but I couldn’t help it.  What are some of your favorite movies??

Xoxo, Katie
